I am an advocate for open education, open resources, open textbooks, and open access.
I have actively participated on university committees on open education, and I have adapted and remixed several sources to create a customized open textbook on business communication, collaborated to create an open textbook on teaching and learning activities for business communications, and created other open education resources. I use open resources whenever possible in my classes, and I support others who engage in open education. I have volunteered my time to copy-edit two additional textbooks, one on electromagnetics and one on scientific inquiry in social work. I was the 2020 Open Education Research Fellow at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. I have completed two research studies on open pedagogy and have received several awards for my work in open education. My doctoral dissertation explored the intersection of open pedagogy, online learning, and social justice.
